Panasonic D-Snap SV-AS3

The Panasonic D-Snap SV-AS3 is a 3.2 Mega-pixel camera that comes in four bright colors.

Technically the SV-AS30 and the SV-AS3 are very similar. The difference is in the size of the digital camera body. The SV-AS3 is thicker and heavier. the SV-AS3 measures 52.5x88.7x21.2mm and weighs 75.1g. As with the SV-AS30 the SV-AS3 can record MPEG4 video with 30 frames/sec. The new D-Snap can play also AAC/WMA/MP3 music with a play-time of 36 hours.
The DSnap SV-AS3 has an HDTV 16:9 image resolution mode (1920x1080) meant for photo viewing on HDTV Televisions.
The Panasonic SV-AS3 will go on sale in Japan November 27th and comes in silver, blue, orange and light blue.

The Panasonic D-Snap SV-AS30 is a 3.2 Mega-pixel camera that is only 9.9mm thin (thinnest point, 14mm max.).

The SV-AS30 can record MPEG4 video with 30 frames/sec. The new D-Snap can play also AAC/WMA/MP3 music with a play-time of 36 hours. The SV-AS30 measures 53.2x103x14mm and weighs 58.5g.
The DSnap SV-AS30 has an HDTV 16:9 image resolution mode (1920x1080) meant for photo viewing on HDTV Televisions. Panasonic says the D-Snap SV-AS30 can also be used to watch MPEG video recorded on a SD-Card while traveling.
The Panasonic SV-AS30 will go on sale in Japan October 30th. The SV-AS30 follows the SV-AS10 model currently on the market.


The SV-AS30 comes in black, brown and silver. No pricing information available.

The High resolution is achieved by an 12.4 million pixel DX Format CMOS image sensor and a new image processing engine that works seamlessly with optimized systems throughout the camera. The Nikon D2X can comfortably shoot full resolution images at 5 frames per second. With a 6.8 megapixel 'High Speed Cropped Image' mode the D2X can achieve a shooting rate up to 8 frames per second.
The camera is ready to shoot the instant it is turned on and has an almost a 37ms shutter lag time.

The new Wireless Transmitter WT-2A allows photographers to not only transmit images over a Wi-Fi network, but also allow wireless remote control of the D2X over a Wi-Fi network from a computer running Capture 4.2 software. Photographers can set the D2X in places that may be inaccessible or unsuitable for photographers, and wirelessly adjust settings, trigger the camera, and instantly retrieve the images over a LAN - Very Cool!

The Olympus Stylus Verve (name in the United States) also called µ (Mju)mini Digital (UK for instance).
Why the different names is not clear. I think µ is a bad idea.

The 4MP Olympus Stylus Verve comes in 6 colors. The Verve has a compact and durable all-metal and all-weather body in a unique shape. The small digital camera measures 3.74" x 2.18" x 1.08" and weighs 3.7 ounces. The Olympus Stylus Verve features a Olympus HyperCrystal LCD, which is a bright 1.8-inch display with 134,000 pixels and sharp resolution. This new LCD is designed to deliver a 160° angle of viewing.
With a f3.5-f5.9, 2x optical zoom lens (35-70mm equivalent in 35mm photography) and 4x digital zoom, the Stylus Verve delivers a seamless 8x total.

The Stylus Verve will be available in September 2004 for $349.99. Amazon.com has the Olympus Stylus Verve listed with a release date of October 20th for pre-order.
