More Megapixels Than You Can Shake a Stick At

Google's Picasa Web Albums Open For Business future gadget Future Technology News technology Review Is your digital camera ready to feel inadequate? Even if you've got the highest common amount of Megapixels in your camera (see deals on 8+ Megapixel cameras), Han Shing's new camera will blow your mind. The HS-DC338A has a meager 3.1 MP sensor, but through interpolation the quality of your pictures will be an unfathomable 12 MP (seriously, that number just doesn't register in my head as a possible resolution quality).

In an interesting Jeckyll/Hyde type of dichotomy, the technologically advanced camera has some seemingly ancient features to it. For starters, it only has a 8x digital zoom and apparently no optical zoom. Also, it's powered by AAA batteries instead of Li-on. I guess that's the trade-off for the unprecedented megapixel specification.
The camera has the standard 32 MB of internal memory, and although our source says there's no expansion slot, Han Shing's site says it supports SD cards.

We're not sure how much this costs, or its street availability, but this is certainly a camera to keep an eye out for.
