Nikon D40X Reviewed

nikond40x.jpgDPreview has recently reviewed the Nikon D40X which is very similar to the Nikon D40 with the notable exception that the new D40X has a 10-megapixel sensor. The base ISP sensitivity of the camera is now ISO 100 and it can shoot faster continuous images as well of 3 fps vs. 2.5 fps on the D40.

The D40x has a very cool graphic display that shows the vital statistics of the camera. A few cons the review points out is the lack of a lens motor in the body means that non-AF-S/AF-T lenses are manual focus only.

In the end DPReview wonders why the camera didn’t come with a 10MP sensor to begin with. The omission of the lens motor is a big gripe, but overall they say this camera is well set to compete directly with the class leading Canon Digital Rebel XTi.
