You can spend well over $1000 getting a DSLR camera, but you don’t have too. CNET has a list of the best digital cameras for under $1000.The interesting part about these relatively inexpensive DSLR cameras is that they all rated at least a very good in CNET reviews.
Sure you can go the full monty on any of these cameras with fancier lenses and run the price well over $1000 but for the new to the DSLR crowd the kit lenses will do just fine for starters.

Canon PowerShot G9 Review Review
Macworld has reviewed the Canon PowerShot G9 digital camera. Macworld says that the G9 is out of phase with the market place. It costs more than other point-and-shoot cameras and is priced in the same realm as many DSLR cameras. They say that the improvements of the G9 over the G7 are minimal. The G9 has two more megapixels, that no one will miss and a larger 3-inch LCD that takes away from the optical viewfinder.
Good features are the RAW mode on the G9 and fantastic image quality. In the end, Macworld rates the camera 3.5 out of 5. Cons include near useless optical viewfinder and modest zoom range.

Tiny Leica M3 Plus from Minox
Traveling with a digital camera is a necessity for many of us and for some they want a big ol’ DSLR and lenses to shoot their pics. Some travelers however want small cameras and the Lecia M3 from Minox is small. It looks like someone took an old school film camera and soaked it in water to shrink it down. This cam may not be very new, but if you are looking for a tiny and unique camera to give this holiday season, the M3 will fit the bill.
The cam has a 1.5-inch LCD and can record video in AVI format as well. Power comes from an internal Lithium-ion battery and charging is done via USB.

Dell Offers Great Price on the Canon Digital Rebel XT DSLR
When shopping for a camera Dell is the last place, I would think to check for good deals. However, it seems that Dell has one serious deal on a DSLR that may make it in time for a Christmas gift.Dell is offering the Canon Digital Rebel XT DSLR body only camera for only $382. Sure adding a lens so you can use the thing will run you a hundred of so more, but still this is a good deal.
The Digital Rebel XT is a very nice camera and there are tons of lenses around for it. If you have been waiting to jump on the DSLR wagon, this may be the camera to jump on.
