Other features include face detection, fast 15fps shooting at 2MP and uses xD and SD memory cards. The pros fort eh camera are great zoom range, versatile, bright output, good detail, effective image stabilization, and good electric viewfinder among other features.

The cons are strong purple fringing, JPEGs soft and over sharpened no RAW mode, plastic tripod mount, and short battery life among others. The verdict is that the S8000fd is an interesting attempt at a do everything camera. The camera gets the DPReview recommended rating.
