Casio Announces Exilim EX-Z77

casioexz77.jpgIt’s been a busy few weeks for camera announcements and Casio has announced another new camera in the Exilim family called the EX-Z77. The camera will be available in silver, white, pink, red and blue colors.

Availability is set for September 14th at an undisclosed price. The cam will have 11.4MB of internal memory and SD card slots for expansion and a 3x optical zoom.

The camera is also compatible with SDHC cards and can record video as well. It’s nice to see cameras coming with color choices now. I’m not sure what the price is for this camera, but fro the mild specs it shouldn’t be too expensive.

Casio Exilim EX-S880 Reviewed

casioexilimexs880.jpg

CNET posted a review today of the Casio Exilim EX-S880 digital camera that is the follow up to the EX-S770. Normally when a new camera replaces an old camera you expect to find more features.

Casio seems to have forgotten that caveat with the EX-S880. the camera is small at only 0.7” thick and 5.1 ounces with the battery and the SD card inserted. The cam has an 8MP resolution, which is one megapixel better than the camera it replaces.

CNET says the EX-S880 takes soft pictures and offers few improvements over its predecessor making the replacements worse than the original. The camera does record video and has a 3x optical zoom, but CNET says take a pass on this camera.

Casio Exilim EX-770

Casio has produced a camera that does big things! Sporting 7 megapixels, this condense-sized digicam is extremely stylish and comes in an array of colors. This easily portable camera comes with functions that are commonly used, such as flash and shooting modes, ISO sensitivity and white balance adjustment and are made available as shortcuts on a vertical menu that sits over the LCD.  The LCD is bright and clear, and has a great photo preview feature.

The EX-770 offers a variety of features for sharpening your photos and is excellent for experienced photographers; while the automatic mode offers fast adjustments to the shot making this a great camera for beginners.

On a negative note, zoom in and try to aim at your shot and you’ll find that slow refresh rates makes the screen somewhat ambiguous. Also, 800 ISO sensitivity means that very distant night shots aren’t always apparent.  At a little of 200 (EUR) or  267 (USD), you’ve caught it at a good deal.

Casio Exilim Z-1000 Reviewed

Casio Exilim Z-1000 dpreview.com has reviewed the new Casio Exilim Z-1000.

Quote: "Announced back in April, the Casio EX-Z1000 was the first compact to break the 10 megapixel barrier, though it was soon followed by a cascade of models featuring what we presume to be the same (Sony) 10.3MP 1/1.8-inch CCD sensor. Headline-grabbing double digit pixel count aside this is pretty standard Exilim fayre; friendly operation and ease of use, 3x optical zoom and stylish, slim, all-metal body."

Casio To Make EX-Z700 in Red and Blue

The Red and Blue EX-Z700So your going out with your blue dress, blue shoes, and blue purse; then you pull out the clashing silver camera to take a picture. Thanks to Casio this may never happen again. Casio has announced that they will make the new EX-Z700 available in blue and red.

With 7.2 megapixels, an extra bright 2.7 inch screen, and 37 BEST SHOT motif programs, this camera is more than just a pretty fashion accessory. The most notable feature of this camera is the auto framing function.

The auto framing function marks an object as the center with the auto-focus and always holds it at the center. The camera then saves the content of the framed motif as a new photo. The camera also has a 3-fold optical zoom, anti shake, and the ability to take almost 500 pictures in one battery charge.

Casio's New EX-Z700

Casio's New EX-Z700The Exilim line from Casio has a new addition with the EX-Z700, a super compact 7-megapixel camera that, for all intents and purposes, is the successor to the 6-MP EX-Z600. Aside from upping the picture resolution, the Z700 adds a couple new features to its "Best Shot" mode, including one that lets you take a couple different pictures and it will then compose a new picture from those.

Also like its sister, the 700 has a 3x optical zoom and a 2.7-inch LCD. There's really nothing too special here, just what you'd expect from a new model to the already-popular Exilim brand.

The Z700 will be launching some time in August, though we don't know exactly what price range it will be (you can make an educated guess by looking at the other prices of Casio's other Exilims).

Casio's New EX-S600D Gets DivX Certification

Casio's New EX-S600D Gets DivX CertificationHave you ever had a digital camera that recorded videos in some obscure format that didn't play on anything except your 2" viewfinder? Casio and DivX must know the feeling because earlier today, DivX announced that they've granted certification to the Casio EX-S600D, a 6-megapixel camera that's due out in July in France and Germany.

The S600D captures video in the widely popular DivX format, which is compatible with more than 1,500 different video-playing devices (DVD players, PMPs, etc). Here's the way DivX put it: "The CASIO EX-S600D camera allows consumers to easily access the valuable DivX ecosystem, an interconnected web of consumer electronics, software and content services that let users play, create and share high-quality video content across a range of devices and platforms."

With a high video quality, you'll be able to pack in about an hour of video on a 1 GB memory card. More info is at DivX.com

Casio Exilim EX-Z70 Released Today

Casio Exilim EX-Z70 Released Today Casio today announced the release of their newest camera, the Casio Exilim ZOON EX-Z70, the latest in its Exilim line. The Exilim series is all about style, functionality, and ease of use. The EX-Z70, which sports 7.2 megapixels, comes not long after the EX-Z60, essentially the Z70's 6 megapixel counterpart.

Like most Casio cameras, the Z70 supports SD and has 8.3 MB of internal memory. The zoom is not overly impressive, with just 3x optical and 4x digital. There's a 2.5" LCD viewing screen on the back of the unit, and the whole thing weighs 118 grams.

As is becoming the norm in digital cameras, the Z70 features "anti shake", which ensures a steady picture even when your hands are shaking. I seem to have a spontaneous arm spasm that goes off whenever I click a shutter button, so this feature is a must for me. Dimensions for this camera are 95.2 mm (W) × 60.6 mm (H) × 19.8 mm (D).
